Getting a Second Opinion

There are many reasons you may want a second opinion from another medical provider.  Here are tips to help you get started from the magazine Brain & Life.

  1. Find an Expert: Start with a specialist or one with training in a subspecialty. Contact an academic hospital for those who are doing research. Look at their biographies. Check with insurance member advocates, or ask for referrals from in online support groups.

  2. Send Medical Records: Get your medical records transferred once your appointment is made. This eliminates delays and unnecessary retesting. Consider bringing hard copies of relevant documents such as recent test results.

  3. Write Down Questions: Before your appointment write down a list of questions such as, why I have this condition, or what are my treatments options.

  4. Bring Backup: Bring a family member or close friend and have them take notes.

  5. Check Your Insurance: Your insurance may not cover your visit so double-check before your appointment.

  6. Resolve Difference: If the second opinion is different you will need to check with both physicians about differences.

Opus Neuro Health

My son and I have been seeing Laura for our Long Covid (PASC) symptoms and are being treated with Neurological Integration System (NIS). We both have experienced a lot of success with these treatments in regaining our health.

From Opus Neuro Health: "NIS is a system that incorporates ancient eastern medicine practices with current neuroscience and promotes self-healing through the detection and correction of signaling disruption in the nervous system. Your nervous system is the master controller of all body functions down to the cellular level. Like the conductor of a symphony, the nervous system coordinates all your bodily functions to create a balanced and sustainable state of health. When signaling breaks down between your nervous system and body (due to physical or emotional trauma, stress, infections, and chemical imbalances), symptoms can develop as your nervous system loses communication with organs, muscles, fascia, joints, the immune and hormonal system, etc. NIS practitioners find these signaling disruptions and facilitate your nervous system to restore the electrical and chemical signaling pathways."

Long Covid Kids

One of the best groups that we have found for support for children. They also share a lot of the latest research. They were one of the first groups of parents to say something is wrong with our children.

They have a few FB support groups and they have one for the U.S. as well.

They believe all children should be able to thrive and look forward to a positive future. They represent and support children and young people living with Long Covid and related illnesses and the parents and caregivers that look after them.
